I was lucky enough to receive these lipsticks to review from Lipstick Republic. I have been buying makeup from Lipstick Republic for a few months now and I can't sing their praises enough! They are a great Australian website that sells hard to access makeup brands for really affordable prices. Lippy Girl is a Canadian brand that makes eco friendly, natural, organic, vegetarian and animal friendly makeup. These lipsticks sell in Canada for $15.50, and they sell here in Australia for $15 on Lipstick Republic! FINALLY there is a website that treats Australians like equals and doesn't ridiculously over charge!
Before I move on to the review, check these lipsticks out at the Lipstick Republic website, and don't forget to use the discount code RepublicVIBs for 10% off your order.
Onto the review, and even though I sent these for review, I will review them as if I bought them myself.
So the packaging is very cute with a baby pink box and girly logo. The names of the shades are fun and cheeky, with names like mother pucker and sassy ass. The names might not be for everyone, I can't imaging buying one of these for my grandmother... although my mum would get a kick out of them.
The lipstick tube itself is smaller than the typical lipstick, but contains 3.8g of product, which is actually 0.8g more than a MAC lipstick. The tube is a black plastic and has the logo in pink on the side, and a sticker with the name and details on the bottom. The plastic doesn't feel like its great quality, and the bottom part of the lipstick can sometimes come off when trying to open the lipstick. This is not a big deal, but if you get one of these and it happens, don't worry its normal. I like good quality packaging, but I would prefer a makeup brand to put more money into the product than the packaging, so I'm not fussed by this, especially since these cost $15... if they cost $50, that's when I would be disappointed.

These are very smooth buttery lipsticks that are a pleasure to apply, they feel like I have just taken a chunk of cocoa butter and have rubbed it on my lips. These are what I wanted Revlon Lip Butters to be like, but they weren't. As you can see from the swatches, they have decent colour pay off, but you can apply them more sheer if you wanted to. You will also notice that all of these are pink toned, even the nudes have a tone of pink... so if you don't like pink lipsticks, these might not be for you, but if you love pink then you will love every single shade. These aren't shiny, but you can see from the swatches with the flash, that these have a bit of a sheen. These also don't have a typical lipstick smell, they smell more like wax, which does linger for a while... but its not unpleasant. If you look the ingredients (see photo below), you can tell why these smell like wax. As I said before, these are very smooth nourishing lipsticks, so they aren't designed to be long wearing. I was pleasantly surprised that they can easily last around 2 hours without eating... this of course vary with some of the darker shades lasting longer, and the lighter shades like nonplussed having a shorter lasting time. However these are easy to apply, and are just as comfortable as a lip balm.
Gob smacked is a really nice neutral pink, its the type of pink that would be a great first date shade, and would suit a lot of skin tones.
On my lips, nudist looks similar to gob smacked. It is not as bright as gob smacked, and has a more nude/mauve tone to it. This is definitely a "your lips but better" shade, and would be a great work lipstick.
When I saw sassy ass in the tube I instantly thought that this was a shade that I would be drawn to but would rarely wear because it is too bright... but when I swatches it and saw that it is actually quite sheer, I instantly fell in love! This is my favourite lipstick of the moment as it gives your lips a nice subtle pink pop that is perfect for warmer weather.
The swatch doesn't do home wrecker justice! this is a really nice dark berry tone, that you can build up or blend in for a more stained appearance. I think I will get a lot of use out of this in Winter.
I am always drawn to light nudes and I always want them to like me, but they never do. Just like sassy ass, I was very happy to see that nonplussed was a sheer lipstick, because it means I can actually wear this shade without looking dead. This is a light nude, that gives a natural look on the lips, but slightly lightens the lips and adds a pink tint.
Mother pucker reminds me of Lime Crimes Retrofurtist. It is a sheer vibrant red that gives almost a jelly finish to the lips that looks really fresh and unique. This can easily be sheered out to give the lips a stained look.
Last but not least, vexy vixen is a vibrant pink that almost looks magenta on my lips. This a really fun colour that any lipstick lover will adore.
I didn't know what to expect from this lipstick range, but I was pleasantly surprised! Normally I love a long wearing lipstick, but these days I am preferring comfort over longevity, and these are perfect! They feel like a lip balm and they provide a great pop of colour without making your lips feel uncomfortable and dry. Like I said before, these are what I wished the Revlon Lip Butters were like, but the Revlon Lip Butters didn't impress me, but these do, and they are cheaper and contain better ingredients! If you are looking for a comfortable, natural, and affordable lipstick, definitely give these a go!
